Son's of the Legion
Dear Members:
MEMBERSHIP: We are now at 50% of membership. Not too good, not all that bad. The State of Florida is at 38%. We have gained 20 new members with a goal of 40. I ask each member to make an honest effort to bring in one new member. Our Squadron 162 has always been the leader in District 9, but last year we fell way short of our goal, coming in at 87%. We still have the largest membership in our District, but a couple of the Squadrons are getting close. We have the finest post in South Florida, let’s keep it that way!
SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT: The efforts of the Sons of The American Legion pay off for many agencies. Now in its 55th year, The American Legion Welfare Foundation has awarded $636,869.00 to support worthwhile projects in 2010 by 19 non-profit agencies.
ANNUAL PICNIC: I want to thank all the men and women who helped make our picnic a “happening”. Attendance was down but as usual God Was Great, Beer Was Good, and some people were Crazy!
Our best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to SAL Jeff Cline after a recent surgery. Get well soon, Jeff!!
Don’t forget our monthly meeting, held on the last Tuesday of the month, 7 pm. Be a true Son of The American Legion and make 2010 the best year ever! I wish you all a very healthy and happy New Year.
